Saturday, September 5 North Melbourne vs Port Adelaide @ Metricon Stadium - 19:40 On Saturday night the second-last placed North Melbourne has the unenviable task of coming up against a Port Adelaide team that just keeps on winning, well, except when they play the in-form Cats! To make matters look like this is an even bigger challenge for the Kangaroos is that, across their last five meetings, the Roos have only won one encounter, but on the upside, that win was in Round 22 last season. With the Power playing a high standard of footy in 2020, you gotta go with them. Port Adelaide by 35 points Sunday, September 6 St. Kilda vs Hawthorn @ Metricon Stadium - 13:05 While St Kilda is just clinging on to their place in the Top eight after having lost three of their past five matches, they are coming up against a Hawthorn team that has fallen into a real hole over the past couple of months. While Hawthorn is leading the "five-game-head-to-head" stat, three to two, it is ...
Friday Sydney 11.7.73 defeated by Collingwood 11.14.80 Well, talk about the perfect game to come out and play the best game of his career. The Sydney Swan's Sam Reid put in a brilliant performance while up against the much-vaunted backline of the Magpies, tallying 15 disposals, 9 marks, 7 hit-outs to go with his 6 goals straight. While having Franklin back meant he got to play against Collingwood's second defender, he certainly made the most of his opportunities. I don't think that ot can be much of a coincidence that Swan's playmaker Josh Kennedy (22 disp and 3 tackles up to three-quarter time) goes off injured, and the Pies manage to get on top of the game with a four goal to one last quarter. Collingwood was pretty lucky to get away with this win, but having seven more shots on goal than their opponents shows that they were in front pretty much everywhere but this didn't translate enough to the scoreboard. At the end of the day, that is the only sta...
The season is done and what an end to the season it was. By that, I mean it was really disappointing. After one of the closest seasons in history, it was really disappointing that the Grand Final was such a blowout. Firstly, lets deal with Sydney. If you’re a Sydney supporter, you’re not going to like the next bit…I suggest you skip the next paragraph. Luckily, the English language is highly flexible and has words for almost everything. The word that I feel most fits this situation is ‘Insipid’. Or maybe I’d choose deplorable. Sydney was bad…really bad. They didn’t even turn up. A lot of their positive attitude responses at the end of the game was that they’d prefer to get to the Grand Final to have a chance to swing a punch than not get there at all. The problem is that they didn’t throw a punch. If you’re running the rope-a-dope strategy, the key to it is once your opponent is tired from smashing you, you...
