Round 15 Preview

Last Week           6/7           Season Total      81/121 It was a pretty uneventful week of footy last week.  Ok, there were a couple of close ones, but they still fell the way expected and the other matches were walkovers.  More to the point, I forgot the World Cup was on.  Yes, that other sport they call Football.  To be honest, I had no idea about it at all and if not for someone asking about a tipping competition, I probably wouldn’t have realized.  Of course, I love to throw money at frivolous causes so I’m now in three competitions.  I’ll admit, I did watch some of the Australia vs Türkiye match (it was either that or help the missus with housework) and I even caught myself yelling GOAAAALLLL, when we scored our first.  My wife retorted, “What the hell?  You don’t even like Soccer?”  She was right, but ...

Round 14 Preview

Last Week           4/8           Season Total      75/114 These Byes just seem to be going on and on.  And I just noticed that there are three more weeks of them.  I know we have to get used to them when Tasmania enters the competition, but dragging these ones out just seems like some kind of cruel punishment.  Especially when the games are so tight.  With 6 of the 8 matches last week decided by less than 9 points for some, depending on which side if the ledger your tips were on, was the difference between getting 3 or 8!?  Obviously, the AFL sent out a memo to make the games closer, but I guess they spelled Fremantle incorrectly in the email addresses.  Wharfie Time not required there. Anyway, I can bang on about footy some more or I could talk about Negative gearing and CGT?  It’s certainly a hot-button topic. ...

Round 13 Preview

Last Week           4/7           Season Total      71/106 It was a difficult week last for tipping.  There seemed to be lots of upsets.  I didn’t have a tip right until late into Saturday.  Of course, there is always someone in the tipping competition that picks every upset. Anyway, no special messages this week so let’s launch into it. Adelaide vs Geelong     Adelaide Oval   Thursday Night The Cats come off another defeat at the hands of Carlton.  One of those teams that seem to have the better of them recently.  Adelaide needs to wake up if they want a chance at this season.  This is the time to stand up.  Against a tough opponent on their home ground.  Unfortunately for Adelaide, like Carlton is Geelong’s bogey side, Geelong is Adelaide bogey side, and it doesn’t matter where the g...
